Don't Wait Up: lyrics
- I just pulled a stool up to the bar
- Seen a girl like a shooting star
- She’s sipping something tall and sweet
- And she just took the empty seat
- I took a look at my buzzing phone
- The boys are asking when I’m headed home
- I started typing out a quick reply
- While I caught a glimmer in her eye
- Don’t wait up for me tonight
- I’m doing just fine in the neon light
- The beer is cold and the company’s better
- I think I’m gonna stay right here beside her
- Yeah, cancel my spot in the morning truck
- Tell the guys I finally caught some luck
- So go on and shut the front door tight
- Don’t wait up for me tonight
- She grew up down in Santa Fe
- Got a laugh that blows the clouds away
- We’re talking 'bout the music and the rain
- I’ve already forgotten my own name
- My phone keeps lighting up the dark
- But there’s a different kind of spark
- I'm putting that screen face down on the wood
- 'Cause staying put feels way too good
- Don’t wait up for me tonight
- I’m doing just fine in the neon light
- The beer is cold and the company’s better
- I think I’m gonna stay right here beside her
- Yeah, cancel my spot in the morning truck
- Tell the guys I finally caught some luck
- So go on and shut the front door tight
- Don’t wait up for me tonight
- The clock on the wall is moving slow
- But I’ve got nowhere left to go
- The jukebox is playing our favorite song
- And I’ve been waiting for this all along
- Don’t wait up for me tonight
- I’m doing just fine in the neon light
- The beer is cold and the company’s better
- I think I’m gonna stay right here beside her
- Yeah, cancel my spot in the morning truck
- Tell the guys I finally caught some luck
- So go on and shut the front door tight
- Don’t wait up for me tonight
