Creator Upload Terms

What you promise when you upload, and what you let us do with your music.

Ownership rule

You may upload only songs where you own or control 100% of the rights: the lyrics, the musical composition and the sound recording.

That excludes covers of other people’s songs, samples you haven’t cleared, songs with co-writers who haven’t agreed, recordings owned or controlled by a record label, and songs represented by a publisher or publishing administrator (for example Songtrust or a distributor’s songwriter service).

You may not upload anything that imitates a real artist’s voice.

Your attestation

Each upload requires you to confirm these statements. We record which statements you confirmed, the version of these terms, and the time.

License you grant us

You grant Voltaire Technologies LLC a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, transcode, stream, display and promote your uploaded songs, artwork, name and likeness on Zazo and in marketing for Zazo, for as long as the content is on the service and a reasonable period after for backups and records.

The license ends when you delete the song, except for records we need to keep for legal, safety and dispute purposes.

AI disclosure obligations

You must accurately disclose whether AI was used, which parts it was used for, and which tool. If you used an AI tool, you confirm you hold a license to use its output commercially. See the AI Content Policy.

Content rules and the Explicit label

Your songs, lyrics, titles, artwork and profile must follow the content rules in the Terms of Service: no nudity or sexual imagery in pictures; no sexual content involving minors, hate, real threats or harassment, graphic gore, or telling people to harm themselves; and only music, not rants, pranks, recorded calls or ads. Songs about violence, guns, drugs, sex, depression or suicide are allowed.

Mark a song Explicit if it has swearing or sexual, violent or drug-related lyrics. We tick the label from the lyrics you type and from the words we hear in the recording, and you can change it in Studio. Deliberately leaving it off an explicit song may lead to the label being added for you, or to removal.

Checks and removal

We check uploads against databases of known recordings and block songs that match.

We also check your pictures, text and the words sung in your recordings against the content rules, using automated tools from service providers. Uploads that clearly break them are refused with the reason. Borderline songs wait for a person to review them before they’re published, and borderline profile changes are reviewed after they go live.

We may remove content in response to valid legal notices or policy violations.

Strikes

Each valid copyright removal adds a strike to your account, and we may also add one when we remove content for breaking the content rules. At 3 strikes, your account is closed and your songs are removed. A successful counter-notice removes the related strike.

Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Voltaire Technologies LLC from claims, damages and costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising from content you upload or your breach of these terms.

No payments

Zazo doesn’t pay royalties or share revenue with creators at this time.
